Guide Right

The Guide Right Leadership Program was established in 1922 as a national service program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. It was established to implement a meaningful and practical approach to the problem of youth underachievement. The program focuses on personal development, academic achievement, college and career preparation, and community service. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for African American males and their families in our Eastern Montgomery County Pennsylvania community by providing programs, trainings, and events.

Our vision is to be recognized regionally and nationally as a leader in supporting the development of young African American males by providing experiences that enable them to realize their full potential.

The basic objectives of Guide Right may be summarized as follows:

To inform youth of the values of higher education, of assistance available for continued educational pursuits, scholarships, loans, professional counseling, fellowships, etc., of various occupational and professional opportunities and of the current labor demands and the trends on the (1) effect of these demands and trends on the labor market, supply rewards, etc. and (2) requirements for obtaining employment, i.e. personal, scholastic, economic.

To assist parents in the handling of their children by giving them opportunities to talk over their problems with those who know and are successful in their chosen vocations.

To afford the less fortunate youths a respite from the drudgery of the streets, through sponsored entertainment and cultural enrichment.
